A delegation led by the governor of Croatian National Bank, the central bank of East European nation, will travel to Tehran in the foreseeable future to remove banking hurdles, the assistant minister with the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs announced.
“Clearing banking problems between Iran and Croatia is the main priority for the Croatian government and I hope that during this trip, we can come up with suitable solutions,” Gordan Bakota was also quoted as saying by the official news website of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture.
He was speaking in a meeting with Mohammad Reza Karbasi, ICCIMA’s deputy for international affairs, in which the Iranian official also talked about the trip made to Iran last year by Croatian President, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic.
Noting that cooperation between the chambers of commerce of both countries was one of the points agreed upon, the ICCIMA official said the private sectors of Iran and Croatia could expedite bilateral economic ties by devising a joint roadmap.
“The Iranian private sector will expand its level of activities and collaborations with its Croatian counterparts, if it feels confident about the ease of undertaking monetary deals,” he said.
According to Karbasi, both countries can work in petrochemical, locomotive manufacturing, medical, tourism and shipbuilding industries through joint investments and expanded trade activities.
Bakota said that in addition to the banking delegation, a committee will be formed in Croatia to monitor the process of implementing last year’s agreements between the two nations.
In 2016, Iran and Croatia registered a $28 million trade volume.
